Keeping Active During Pregnancy
Carrying a baby in your womb for nine months is no easy job. It really does take a lot out of you, but that doesn’t mean that you should just be lying around all the time. Actually, it’s quite the opposite. Sure, you won’t be able to keep up with your regular exercise routine so here are some ways on how you can keep active during pregnancy.
Walking
Walking is probably the best exercise you can do while pregnant. It is even recommended by doctors not only for the sake of getting your regular workout but it is also believed to make the whole delivery process much easier and much faster. Plus, what makes it even better is that you can actually run errands while doing so- go to the grocery store or pick up the little ones from school. Taking a slow stroll is also a good way to relieve stress.
Swimming
Swimming is another way to keep active while pregnant. This actually serves as a full body workout, plus you can’t deny that it is a whole lot of fun. Whether you are doing laps up and down the pool or if you are just enjoying the feeling of being weightless in the water, this is also a good way for you to get rid of unwanted stress. The only downfall is that not everyone may have access to a pool and that swimming should be done only in a pool. Lakes, ponds, and the ocean are out of the question. It is believed that while you are pregnant, there is a possibility of you getting an infection because of bacteria in the water.
Yoga
Yoga is actually perfect for stretching as well as strengthening your muscles too. What is great about this is that you can do it practically throughout the whole nine months of conception. Of course as your belly grows, you may not be able to do all of the positions you used to be able to do before. But there are tons of poses especially designed for a woman with a baby bump. You can even go ahead and take a prenatal class to help you out. And if you are not willing to go the fitness center or gym to do so, then you can always get some prenatal yoga DVDs and books to guide you so that you can do it right from the comfort of your own home.
Programs
There are also tons of ebooks and programs that you can get that can give you more details on keeping active during pregnancy, staying fit, and eating right too. Pregnancy Without Pounds by Michelle Moss is definitely worth a look.
